Holy – Festival of color and Love
Holy is a Hindu spring festival celebrated in the month of March, and is originating from the Indian subcontinent and is celebrated predominantly in India and Nepal.
The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. It starts on the evening of Purnima, full moon day where people gather and perform religious rituals in front of the bonfire and pray for the internal evil to be destroyed. The fallowing day is celebrated as a free for all festival of colors where people trough and smear color on each other. Everyone is part of the celebration, poor or reach, friend or stranger, Woman or man, young or old. The music floods the temples and streets performed by Drums and other musical instruments. During the festival the special drink is intensively used, the Bhang and is made out of Cannabis, which is intoxicating but brings the freedom of enjoying the intensive celebration.
