Vietnam’s northwestern border with Laos offers an unparalleled diversity of tropical landscapes. Mu Chan Chai is located in the northwest and is surrounded by steep mountains with rich tropical vegetation, pine forests, and emerald rice terraces. Amazing carst limestone may be found in the Red River Delta, creating a maze of caverns and canyons. The rhythms of millennia are still present in the village life here. Farmers tend to their cattle, develop their land, and sell their goods in local markets. We will head back to Ha Noi after our last day in order to catch our planes home.

Day 1 May 18, 2026 -Meet for Dinner in Old Ha Noi
The Old Quarter is the name commonly given to the historical civic urban core of Hanoi, Vietnam, located outside the Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long. This quarter used to be the residential, manufacturing and commercial center, where each street was specialized in one specific type of manufacturing or commerce. This evening there will be a welcome dinner with Gavriel Jecan. (D)

Day 2 May 19 – Depart from Hanoi to Mu Cang Chai
Mu Cang Chai is located in the Yen Bai Province of Vietnam in the northwest region, nestled in the Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range. It is famous for the stunning rice terraces that spread across the rolling hills, creating a landscape that changes with the seasons. (B, L, D)

Day 3 / 4, May 20 – 21 Mu Cang Chai
Continuing our adventure in Mu Cang Chai, which is renowned for its breathtaking scenery and is considered a photographer’s paradise. The rice terraces, rolling hills, verdant landscapes, and traditional villages create a visually stunning destination. (B, L, D)

Day 4 / 5, May 21 – 23 – Moc Chao,
Moc Chao, which is situated on a huge plateau and rises more than 1,000 meters above sea level, offers a variety of natural treasures, including mountains, rivers, waterfalls, caverns, and a profusion of flowers, including the stunning springtime blooming of apricot, plum, and peach blossoms. There are twelve indigenous ethnic groups in this region of Vietnam, and their customs are widely visible in both daily life and the several festivals that are held there. Vietnam’s major tea-growing region is Moc Chau. The Hmong and Thai ethnic groups make up the majority of the area where these expansive waves of green tea leaves are seen.

Day 6 – 7, May 23 -25 Mai Chau
Mai Chau Vietnam is renowned for its dynamic culture and agricultural landscapes, which include magnificent rice terraces. The scenery of Mai Chau consists of small settlements, lush rice terraces, and undulating hills. For adventure photographers and nature lovers, Mai Chau provides countless opportunities for landscape photography. Six ethnic minority groups call the region home, with the Thai being the most common, followed by the Hmong and Muong communities. These communities are renowned for maintaining their distinctive way of life and customs, which makes them an intriguing culture to explore and capture on camera.
In the same area will visit the Dong Doi Cave, also known as Bat Cave, is more than 7,000 square meters in size, 100 meters high, and 930 meters long. To enter this national historical and cultural landmark, climb the 240 steps. From the dry lake in the middle of the cave to the glittering, multicolored stalactites that erily resemble Buddhas, elephants, tigers, and eagles, the interior of this magnificent limestone cave is a miracle of wealth.

We’ll go to the Incense Village and Literature Temple in Hanoi.About 35 kilometers from the heart of Hanoi, in Quang Phu Cau Commune, Ung Hoa District, sits the Incense Stick Village. Literature Temple, Emperor Ly Thanh Tong established the Temple of Literature in 1070 as a place of adoration for the Chinese philosopher Confucius. Later on, it evolved into the Imperial Academy, Vietnam’s first university.
