We travel around Japan’s popular wildlife photogenic places in central and north Hokkaido
Day one Feb 9th – Arrive in Tokyo
Day two Feb 10th – Tokyo to Nagano . this morning will drive into the Japanese Alps by private chartered buss to our hotel, In the afternoon will walk for about one mile to the Jigokudani where the snow monkeys bath in the hot springs. A short photo session with the Snow monkeys before we return to our hotel for the evening.
Day three Feb 11th – Nagano, Snow monkeys – In the morning after breakfast will hike back to the Snow monkeys, to photograph them when they are feed with grains and then will spend our time observing and photographing their behavior. Hike back down in the afternoon to rest and eat dinner
Day four Feb 12th – Drive to Tokyo and fly to Kushiro – Hokkaido . on arrival in Kushiro our driver and car will wait at the airport for us to be transferred to the hotel, Lunch, in the afternoon will drive to the Crane reserve where will capture the dancing cranes in the evening low light. Most of this cranes do migrate all the way from Siberia where they spend the summers. Dinner
Day five Feb 13th – Hokkaido, Photograph the Japanese cranes in the morning and Landscapes in the afternoon. After breakfast will return to the Crane reserve to continue our photography with this majestic birds, then Lunch fallowed by a drive to Lake Mashuko, located in a volcano caldera for winter landscapes. Will stop on the way back to photograph some of the minimal landscapes of farm lands, snow and trees. Dinner
Day six Feb 14th – Hokkaido, Photograph the Whooper Swans on a frozen lake, fallowed by red fox, deer and other wildlife in the afternoon after lunch. The morning steam of the geothermal springs is rising from the edges of the lake. This is the time when the swans arrive to swim and worm up in the worm waters of the geothermal springs. This brings a great opportunity to capture the Swans in flight, followed by amazing photo opportunities of them landing on the frozen lake at sunrise. Lunch, in the afternoon will drive to Nemuro peninsula to an area where the red fox and other wildlife are present, will photograph through the sunset. Dinner
Day seven Feb 15th – Hokkaido – This morning will drive to Rausu the take the boat to photograph the Steller sea eagle and other sea birds on the northern sea, on the ice. From the harbor will sail to the ice pack in the open bay where the eagles are resting. This is where will capture them in flight, fishing and interacting – just few meters away from the bot.
Day eight Feb 16th – Hokkaido , Wildlife and landscapes. This morning will return to the Crane sanctuary to photograph for the last time the cranes flying and displaying and in the afternoon will photograph Owls, Sika deer, fox, white tail eagle and other birds. Dinner
Day nine Feb 17th – Hokkaido to Tokyo, today we fly to Tokyo and transfer to our hotel, if time alowes us then will walk and photograph the street life.
Day ten Feb 18th – Tokyo to Home
