Day 1- Feb 19 Osaka Arrive in Osaka, self transfer to the hotel, in the evening will get together with our local guide that will assist us during out tour in Japan.
Day 2- Feb 20 Osaka On the first morning, spend time exploring this diverse city, including the Osaka Castle, Shinsaibashi, and the Dotonbori Bridge. Be sure to try takoyaki, the city’s famous octopus snack, or share a group meal of Okonomiyaki. In the afternoon, we will go see a small, local festival called Ichiya Kanjo, held to celebrate the girls who sacrificed themselves to save the village from the disasters back in the days.

Day 3-Feb 21 – Osaka to Tsumago After breakfast, we will head to Tsumago, a post town on the Nakasendo route between Kyoto and Edo (now Tokyo) back in the days. It takes about 4 hours from Osaka to Tsumago by a car. After arrival, we will stroll around for a little bit, then it’s time to soak in the hot springs ourselves and enjoy a meal at the Ryokan. Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner O/N at Tsumago
Day 4- Feb 22 – Tsumago Spend the day discovering Tsumago which is known today as one of the best-preserved post towns in Japan. You will feel like you entered a time warp going back to the Edo period (1603-1867). We will also visit Magome which was also important post town on the ancient Nakasendo route. Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner O/N at Tsumago
Day 5 – Feb 23 – Tsumago to Kyoto After breakfast, drive to Japan’s imperial capital, Kyoto, and spend the rest of the day photographing this historic city. Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner O/N at Kyoto
Day 6 – Feb 24 – Kyoto Again, we kick off the day with an early sunrise shoot at the Fushimi Inari Shrine, the site of the famous shrine gates. After our morning shoot, we will have special access to photograph a Geisha (Maiko) in a private photo session. We will wrap up our day with other classic Kyoto photogenic spots such as the Gion district. Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner O/N at Kyoto
Day 7 – Feb 25 – Kyoto ( Baikasai ) Wake up very early in the morning and go for our morning shoot at the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest before the crowds get there. Our day continues onto many photogenic places. Today, there is an opportunity to see Baikasai plum blossom festival at one of Kyoto’s most beautiful temples, tea ceremonies and even Geisha

Day 8 – Feb 26 – Kyoto to Nara Before heading to Nara, go photograph the Shirahige Shrine, with its “floating” torii gate in the water and Miyama which is famous for its traditional thatched roof (Kayabuki) village. In the afternoon make a trip to Nara, where Japan’s first capital was established in the early 8th century. Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner O/N at Nara
Day 9 – Feb 27 – Nara Spend the day discovering ancient Nara. Visit the Todaiji temple, and see the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world. At Kasuga Taisha, Nara’s most celebrated shrine, stroll and photograph walkways lined with hundreds of bronze and stone lanterns. In the afternoon, stroll along Naramachi, the streets of traditional merchant houses and participate in a tea ceremony. Meals Included: Breakfast & Dinner O/N at Nara
Day 10 – Feb 28 – Nara to Osaka After breakfast transfer to the airport for your return flight home.

The professional photo tour and the local tour guide will be with you all the time to answer your questions and help you in the field. Our groups are small, and this means more time in the field with your photo tour leader.
If you need to cancel your reservation, the cancellation would be valid as of the day of received the email in our office, at which time the following fees apply:
– Cancellation 90 days or more before departure: 100% of trip land cost refundable, except the deposit
– Cancellation 89 to 60 days before departure: only 50% of trip land cost refundable, except the deposit
– Cancellation 59 or fewer days before departure: no part of the trip land cost is refundable.
This photo tour and workshop is offered as a complete package. Once the trip commences, we do not provide partial refunds for any cancellation or unused portion or service for any reason.
- Lunch during the tour is not included. You can buy food from the local convenience stores or eat at the local restaurants. Each person should prepare to pay for these individually. ( many places prefer cash payment )
- Ryokan (Japanese style hotel) in Tsumago (Day3,4) only offer futon style bedding, where people will sleep on a mattress laid out on the floor and all washroom and bathing facilities are shared among the guests.
• You must advise us of any special electronic medical equipment you are bringing, (i.e. Cpap/Sleep Apnea electronics). Certain medical devices may result in the necessity of a single room or special electrical supplements and services.
It is highly recommended that you purchase travel & medical insurance.

Things to know before you book a tour or workshop with us
The difference between a Photo workshop and a Photo tour.
During a photo workshop typically photo instructor’s job is to teach you a specific techniques or skils in the field and class.
During the tour, the leader’s main job is to get you to the right place at the right time to achieve great photos and experiences. When in the field, the photo tour leader may also offer answers to your concerns about composition and techniques, but most help is done on an individual basis in the field.
Before you go: use local workshops to learn Camera and composition techniques before spending thousands of dollars traveling to exotic destinations to take once-in-a-lifetime shots!
